Write-a-Vision No. 3: Year's End
News @ The Ledge
Let us begin with a prestigious, highly sought after award!
You all know what I’m talking about! The award for “Most Fun and Unexpected Substack Collaboration” goes to…
The Chronicler’s Ynysfall Codex!
Welcome, wanderer.
You have come to the shattered realm of Ynysfall, a land half-remembered. Here, the Codex gathers what remains: the whispers of old kingdoms, the names of strange beasts, the prayers of pilgrims, and the lies of kings. This is no single tale, but a thousand pieces of one. Each page is a shard, set beside others, until a world begins to take shape.
The Chronicler bids you welcome.
Go lose yourself for a few hours in the broken realm of Ynysfall, and check out my contribution while you are there!

For those who missed it:
While a wonderful experience, the labor employed was exhausting.
When I self-published Seeking Morels, I was surprised by so many peoples’ responses. It was not “Well done!” and “That’s amazing!” but “Will you write another one?” Sheesh! Writing books are like birthing children—an arduous season of writing gestation, filled with preeclampsia, deep venous thrombosis, gestational diabetes, and so forth. Let me just enjoy the fruit of my mind before you ask if I’ll make another.
Anyways, that anecdote is to say: If writing a book is like having a child, then creating the “Rated R for Ridiculous: A Comedy Anthology” was like adopting a child (while simultaneously carrying your own—that being Methuselah Codex).
Now, I’m pretty tired and stretched.
Afore mentioned, I am pausing the release of Part Three of Methuselah Codex.
I do not plan to post in 2026. I will research submitting a novel, the world of publishing, and BookFunnel.
And dabble with character and scene development for a Methuselah Codex sequel and prequel. The world of Matthias, Clements, Ignatius, and Anselm still burns hot in my psyche.
I’ll leave you with this teaser:
Over the entrance, scrawled in blood, were the words: “prɪnsɛs əv ˈæzəzɛl.”
“Is the air pure?” Cornelius asked.
“Even a witch cannot breathe the Devil’s breath and live,” I said.
Should the well of inquiry come up dry… I’ve collaborated with an artist, and together we’ve designed a captivating book cover for self-publishing. Wish I could tease the image… but that path will have to wait.
Let us end the year with a story from my younger sister:
Here’s a fun one for you… I went to urgent care today because my ear has been bothering me for a week. L**** had looked inside and saw something white. So I figured I should get it checked out… Doctor looks in and is confused. Gets a gnarly contraption and sprays my ear full of water. Comes back with long tweezers and asks if I put anything in my ears… ie earbuds. Instantly think of looking at my ear buds that have been playing The Canticle of Leibowitz into my ears and remembering that one of the tips was missing from the left ear and gosh darn the kids probably lost it. Nope I did.. in my ear canal. Will I finish the canticle at this rate? Who knows… it’s been in my ear for a good week.
May your year be blessed with an abundance of well written prose, impacting themes, heart-wrenching characters, and climatic resolve.
—C. M.
P. S. Have you noticed how my style bleeds into everything? I can’t tell if it’s “Author’s Voice” or just obnoxious and juvenile… those aren’t exclusive…

The television set mounted in the upper corner of the dining area kept cutting in an out in static intervals.

You have had a productive 2025. I'll DM my email for Part 3 of Methusela. Thank you for including me in the comedy collaboration. Best wishes for continued success in 2026.
Goodluck on your publishing journey. I the next stage fruitful.
No posts in 2026 is a little sad though. Methuselah and Technician Time both go hard.
